A rich, full-bodied red with deep garnet hues. Aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, figs, and dark chocolate lead to a palate of dense fruit, pepper, and earthy notes. The finish is long and velvety, with a touch of minerality.
Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, aged cheeses, or hearty stews. Its structure also makes it suitable for cellaring.
Best known in Northern Rhône, Washington State
A dark, spicy red grape. Blackberry, black pepper, smoked meat and violets, with firm structure. Elegant and savoury in the Northern Rhône, in places like Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie; in Australia the same grape goes by Shiraz.
