PRODUCER: The Trocard family have been Vignerons since 1620, making them one of the oldest vine growing families in the Gironde. The winemaking now takes place under the watchful eye of Benoit Trocard, a 15th generation winemaker. Having studied in Reims and undertaken vintages in the Yarra Valley, Benoit returned home to take the helm of the family domain that covers 100 hectares across six appellations on the right bank in 2002.
WINEMAKING: Historically a much more common variety in Bordeaux, Malbec (or Pressac as it known locally, is now a relative rarity. Garagista is from a single vineyard of 50 year old vines planted to gravel soils in Les Artigues-de-Lussac. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, with an annual production of around 6,000 bottles.
TASTING NOTE: A rare example of a 100% Malbec from Bordeaux, Garagista is a fine example of Malbec from it's homeland. Medium to full bodied and showing red plum and blackberry aromas with a herbal lift.
