What it tastes like

Aromatic and refined, this vintage offers notes of blackberry, cassis, cedar, and forest floor. The palate is full-bodied with velvety tannins, showcasing flavours of dark cherry, licorice, and a hint of balsamic, leading to a long, structured finish.

Light Full

Lovely with

  • BBQ meatsRibs · Burgers · Smoky brisket
  • Game meatsPheasant · Partridge · Game pie
  • Hard cheeseComté · Manchego · Parmesan

Ideal with grilled meats, game, or aged cheeses. Its structure also makes it suitable for cellaring.

The grapes

Cabernet Franc

Best known in Loire Valley, Bordeaux

Lighter and more fragrant than its famous offspring, Cabernet Sauvignon. Red berries, violets, graphite and a leafy freshness. In the Loire it shines on its own; in Bordeaux it adds perfume to the blend.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Best known in Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Coonawarra

The backbone of Bordeaux and the world's most famous red grape. Blackcurrant, cedar and firm tannins, with real ageing potential. Riper climates give plusher fruit; cooler ones more structure and leafy freshness.

Where it's from

Tuscany

Italy

Italy's most celebrated wine region. Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano — all Sangiovese, all distinct. The Super Tuscans broke the rules in the 1970s and created an entirely new style. Hills, cypress trees, and wine that belongs on the table.

The story behind it

Sassicaia, originating in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, was the first Italian wine to receive its own DOC. The 2020 vintage, produced under challenging conditions, showcases the estate's commitment to excellence and innovation.

If you like these, you'll love this: Fans of Bordeaux blends or other Super Tuscans like Ornellaia and Tignanello will appreciate Sassicaia's depth and finesse.
