Zesty, aromatic and refreshing. Grapefruit, gooseberry, cut grass and passion fruit, with crisp acidity. Mineral and restrained in Sancerre and the Loire, punchy and tropical in Marlborough, and blended with Sémillon in Bordeaux.

Heaven and Earth, in Afrikaans. A cool, ocean-influenced valley behind the coastal town of Hermanus, split into three wards. It has built a strong reputation for Burgundian grapes: taut, mineral Chardonnay and fragrant, finely structured Pinot Noir. Some of South Africa's most elegant wines come from here.

Hannes Storm makes wine in South Africa's cool-climate Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Wild Air Sauvignon Blanc, made with Ben Henshaw, comes from a small parcel of 20-year-old vines in the Ignis vineyard. It is hand-harvested and barrel-fermented.
