PRODUCER: Domaine Pierre Martin is situated in the heart of Sancerre appellation in the samall village of Chavignol which is very well known for its goatcheese "crottin de chavignol". Pierre Martin has taken over the 17 hectares estate ten years ago. He is following his forefathers footsteps, working traditionnally on the world wine known terroirs of Cul de Beaujeu and Les Monts Damnés. Pierre Martin is the 4th generation to take charge of the family legacy, assuming control from his father in 2004. Yves (who is in semi-retirement) is still active, but this is very much Pierre’s show now.
WINEMAKING: 6-day cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation with pumping and winding with temperature control. Malolactic fermentation in 225 litre barrels in the spring.
TASTING NOTES: Domaine Martin, a traditional and respected domaine located in Chavignol, farms sustainably using no herbicides. This is a red Sancerre with an expressive palate of ripe red fruit. Light in style with a fresh and juicy mouth feel, well-integrated tannins and a long finish.
