What it tastes like

Minimalist Wines Stars in the Dark Syrah 2023 is an elegant, cool-climate Syrah with captivating aromas of blackberry, blueberry, violets, and cracked black pepper. The palate is vibrant and focused, showing layers of dark fruit, olive tapenade, and smoked herbs, wrapped in fine-grained tannins and a spine of fresh acidity. The finish is long and savory, with a subtle mineral edge and restrained power.

The story behind it

Crafted by Bernhard Bredell, a seventh-generation winemaker, Stars in the Dark takes its name from the struggle of vines growing in Elim's tough, rocky soils and harsh maritime climate. The wine is made with minimal intervention—whole-bunch fermentation, natural yeast, and gentle aging in neutral oak—allowing the site to shine. It's a wine about resilience, elegance, and authenticity.

If you like these, you'll love this: If you enjoy Northern Rhône Syrah, cool-climate Shiraz from Victoria, or elegant reds from Swartland or Hemel-en-Aarde, this wine is right in your lane. Ideal for fans of structured, aromatic reds that combine finesse with character.
