Best known in Rioja, Ribera del Duero
Spain's great red grape. Cherry, plum, tobacco and leather, with smooth tannins, and oak ageing adds vanilla and spice. It is the heart of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, and in Portugal's Douro the same grape is called Tinta Roriz.

Germán Blanco created Quinta Milú, a micro-winery in La Aguilera, Ribera del Duero. Milú is hand-picked old-vine Tempranillo from 900 metres, foot-trodden and wild-fermented. Love Wine also stocks his La Bicicleta Voladora Rioja, aged in concrete with no oak.
