PRODUCER: A visit to Laborie affords you the opportunity to reminisce about the Cape as it once was. Laborie has been producing fine wines since 1698 and more than 300 years on, is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa.
WINEMAKING: Grapes were hand harvested into bins in the cool of the morning. Bunches were hand sorted and pressed whole; only free run juice was used for the final blend. Selected yeasts were used for primary fermentation and 8% of the wine was fermented in barrel. To maximise freshness, none of the base wines underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine was matured on the lees for 24 months before disgorgement. Served well chilled, this wine can be enjoyed on its own or with oysters, delicate seafood dishes and light salads.
TASTING NOTES: This complex and indulgent MCC shows clarity of fruit on the nose. Hints of lime are accompanied by aromas of toasted bread and hazelnut. The palate is creamy, round and textured with an explosive acidity and lasting, elegant finish.
