PRODUCER: Domaine Gilles Copéret produces wines in an authentic way, with deep respect for the terroir and traditions. Taking over the business from his grandfather in 1986, Giles inherited 2 hectares of vines in Regnie and 20 acres of vines in Morgon. The holdings have expanded across several other Cru's since then, most recently with the acquisition of 2.5 hectares on the hill of La Madone.
VINEYARD: The Gamay vines are gobelet trained on calcareous clay soils. The vineyards Terra Vitis certified and only minimal amounts of pesticides are used.
WINEMAKING: All the grapes are hand harvested. Whole bunches go through a semi-carbonic over 17 days. The wine is then aged for six to ten months in concrete tanks before bottling.
TASTING NOTE: This top class wine has a nose dominated by blackberries and cherries and a silky smooth palate with fine tannins. It's classic Morgon, showing the fruit of Beaujolais and the charm of Burgundy. This wine is ready to drink now but Morgon is one of the longest-lasting crus and will therefore develop for a further year or two.
