The main grape of Valpolicella and Amarone. Bright sour cherry, gentle tannins and fresh acidity in its lighter styles. Dried before fermentation, it makes the rich, powerful wines of Amarone.

A close cousin of Corvina in name, but a separate grape. Larger berries and a little more structure and colour. It adds body and dark cherry depth to Valpolicella and Amarone blends.
Best known in Bordeaux, Italy, Chile
Soft, round and approachable. Plum, black cherry and chocolate, with gentle tannins and a plush texture. It leads the blends of Bordeaux's Right Bank, including Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, and makes generous, easy-drinking reds all over the world.
Best known in Valpolicella, Veneto
A Valpolicella blending grape that plays a supporting role to Corvina. It adds colour, red fruit and herbal notes. Its berries dry well without rotting, which makes it useful for Amarone and Recioto, and it is rarely bottled on its own.
