The grapes

Pinot Meunier

Best known in Champagne, England

One of the three main grapes of Champagne, alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It adds fruit, softness and early approachability to the blend. Increasingly made into still and sparkling wines in its own right, including in England.

Pinot Noir

Best known in Burgundy, Oregon, New Zealand

The great red grape of Burgundy. Cherry, raspberry, earthy and floral notes, with silky tannins and fresh acidity. Notoriously hard to grow well, but capable of extraordinary elegance, and a key grape in Champagne and English sparkling wine.

The story behind it

L'Étonnant is crafted from grapes sourced from the Vallée de la Marne, specifically the municipalities of Troissy and Vincelles. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks and is aged on the lees for at least 24 months, enhancing its complexity and texture. With a dosage of around 5g/L, it strikes a perfect balance between richness and freshness, embodying the distinctive character of the region.

If you like these, you'll love this: If you're a fan of rich and expressive Champagnes like Bollinger Special Cuvée or Egly-Ouriet Brut Tradition, L'Étonnant will resonate with you. Its depth, complexity, and exceptional value make it a compelling choice for those seeking a memorable Champagne experience.
