Best known in Rioja, Ribera del Duero
Spain's great red grape. Cherry, plum, tobacco and leather, with smooth tannins, and oak ageing adds vanilla and spice. It is the heart of Rioja and Ribera del Duero, and in Portugal's Douro the same grape is called Tinta Roriz.
