What it tastes like
Perfumed and savoury rather than overtly bold. Violet, rose petal and fynbos sit alongside blackberry, black cherry and liquorice, with a subtle peppery edge. Fine, grainy tannins and superb balance carry the wine to a long, composed finish.

Grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, venison or mushroom-led dishes. Also superb with food cooked over fire. Wine storyFruit comes from two Swartland farms Porseleinberg (90%) and Goldmine (10%). Fermented with a high proportion of whole bunches and aged in large Austrian oak foudres and demi-muids, the focus here is purity, perfume and texture rather than oak impact. CellaringDrinking well now with air, but will improve over 10–15 years. A classic cellar wine.
