What it tastes like

A 100% Malbec from Stellenbosch's Helderberg slopes, offering aromas of dark chocolate-dipped oranges, mint, violets, and a sweet, perfumed nose. The palate is medium-full bodied, showcasing the softer side of Malbec with gentle tannins, good freshness, and a rounded mouthfeel.

The grape

Malbec

Best known in Mendoza, Cahors

Argentina's signature red. Dark plum, blackberry and violets, with a soft, velvety texture that makes it very easy to like, with high-altitude Mendoza vineyards keeping it fresh. In its original home, Cahors, it makes firmer, darker and more rustic wines.

The story behind it

The name "Jaaa-Bru" is South African slang for "Yes, my brother," a greeting from Alex Starey, the farmer of this vineyard. Interestingly, "Malbec" phonetically translates from Afrikaans as "crazy mouth," inspiring the label's design.

If you like these, you'll love this: Fans of expressive, fruit-forward Malbecs with a fresh twist will appreciate this unique South African rendition.
