- In stock, ready to ship
COCKTAIL: The exact origin of the Martinez is unclear but a popular theory suggests it was served sometime in the early 1860s at the Occidental Hotel in San Francisco, which people frequented before taking an evening ferry to the nearby town of Martinez. Alternatively, the people of Martinez say the drink was first created by a bartender in their town, or maybe the drink was named after the town. Indeed, a "Martinez Cocktail" was first described in Jerry Thomas' 1887 edition of his "Bartender's Guide, How to Mix All Kinds of Plain and Fancy Drinks":
TASTING NOTES: look for a smooth mingling hint of clementine with a smokiness combined with the apricot and a spike of juniper in the background from the gin. Well balanced, you start with the sweetness of the Apricot on the tongue and immediately find botanicals and acidity in the middle, a refreshing juniper comes to the finish with a lingering smooth texture.
METHOD: Add 50ml of this blended mix to a glass full of ice, stir a few times and strain into a Martini style glass. Take a pink grapefruit and zest the oils of the skin over the top of the cocktail! Enjoy!
