Verdant Brewing Co: One of Britain's Best Breweries Has Landed in Jersey

There are breweries that make decent beer, and there are breweries that other brewers drink on their days off. Verdant Brewing Co fall firmly into the second category.

Founded in Penryn, Cornwall in 2014, they've spent the last decade building a reputation that extends well beyond the craft beer bubble. They helped define what modern British hazy IPA actually looks like — juicy, tropical, soft and hop-forward in a way that feels effortless rather than aggressive. Verdant Lightbulb is their flagship and the obvious place to start. Hopped with Simcoe and Centennial, it delivers bright citrus, soft tropical fruit and a clean finish that makes it dangerously easy to open a second one.

Verdant People Money Space Time is the session IPA — Citra and Mosaic, fresh lime and grapefruit on a pillowy body. Everything you want from a Verdant beer, just a bit lighter and very easy drinking.

There Is A Garden Within Me – NE IPA – 6.5% A big, expressive New England IPA loaded with ripe tropical fruit. Mango and juicy stone fruit lead the way, with bright lime and citrus bringing freshness and Galaxy adding its distinctive dank edge. Soft, hazy and full-bodied, with a subtle vanilla character running through the finish.

Strange Loop – Pale Ale – 5.2% Collaboration with Big Scary Monsters.  A seriously aromatic hazy Pale Ale combining three hops that aren't exactly shy. Expect masses of tropical fruit, ripe berries and citrus alongside pine and a distinctly dank edge. Soft and juicy through the middle, with just enough bitterness on the finish to keep everything fresh.

Even Sharks Need Water – IPA – 6.5%. One of Verdant's cult IPAs and a beer that has built a serious following. Citra and Galaxy combine for an explosion of juicy citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit, with Verdant's house yeast adding its characteristic apricot note. Fluffy, full-bodied and exceptionally soft, with restrained bitterness allowing the hops to do all the talking.

And Verdant Psych! is their 0.5% IPA. Worth mentioning because it's genuinely good rather than just a token low-alcohol option.
