NEW IN. Wines from the Ardeche: Producer Focus.

Welcome to another episode of Producer Focus...

Towards the end of 2020 a friend ours turned up at the door with a box of wine and a smile.  We have been friends for many a year and with him working in the industry, mainly with the supermarkets, he has from time to time thrown new ideas at us.  This time was no different, 'Chaps, this is a box of great value and super tasty wine... let's have a taste!.

Needless to say he was true to his word and we are happy to welcome and introduce to you Vignerons Ardechois.  The Ardèche is an intriguing wine department, since it lies on the cusp between the north and the south: St Joseph and Cornas at one end, and then (after copious forests) some of the freshest of the southern Côtes de Rhône and Côtes du Rhône-Villages at the other, grown principally on rolled-pebble vineyards on ancient terraces of the Rhône. Under the radar and better known for its sunshine, ruggedness, sweet chestnuts and school canoeing trips, the Ardèche contains a part of Cévennes National Park with many well-managed limestone and granite crags.

Founded in 1967, Vignerons Ardéchois is the most respected & award winning producer from the jaw-dropping Ardeche region in the South of France. Ardeche wine growers have long lived in the shadows of their more illustrious northern neighbours, but are now being recognised by wine journalists and sommeliers alike for their unique and fresh, elegant wines.

Nature is rich and diverse in the Ardeche, and biodiversity is the cornerstone of their farming principles.  Working sustainably and organically, Vignerons Ardechois produce marvelous wines and perfect balance of quality and price. Working with varieties that prefer the sunshine; Syrah, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Grenache Noir for the reds, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache Blanc for the whites, the wine is a great representation of an alternative Rhone.

Vignerons Ardechois is made up of 12 different wine-making cellars spread over a mosaic of terroirs, from the Cévennes foothills to the Rhône valley - each cellar focusing on the varietals that are best suited to the growing conditions of that particular part of the valley.

Below we have 6 new Ardeche wines for you to try:
