PRODUCER: In 1984 Rita and Virgilio realised their lifelong dream purchasing the property that became Tua Rita. The landscape and buildings on this property were a mere setting for living in contact with nature whilst farming their beloved land. Their overwhelming passion for wine actually changed their plans. The original two hectares of vineyards have been cultivated meticulously since the beginning, this rigorous and passionate care collocated Tua Rita among the most successful producers labeled as “vins de garage”. In less than a decade they had extended the property up to nine hectares, then twenty; nowadays the totality of the planted vines includes thirty hectares.
WINEMAKING: This limited edition release is crafted from 100% Syrah and vinified on the skins in amphorae for three months. The new wine is then transferred to used oak barrels where it spends a further five months before bottling. This innovative use of clay vessels for fermentation followed by maturation in used oak barrels showcases and emphasises the quality of the grapes.
TASTING NOTE: The nose opens with ripe plums, cherries, and crushed dark berres, while the first sip reveals a vivacious freshness, gentle tannins, and a firm structure. Hints of bacon and tobacco smoke along with blackberry and blackcurrant flavours linger long on the palate, inviting sip after sip.
