- In stock, ready to ship
Val do Salnés is where the story of mono-varietal Albariño wines began, and where the most sophisticated white wines from Spain are made, characterized by their freshness and aromatic intensity.
Mar de Frades is in a privileged location: the Arousa estuary overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Mar de Frades means Sea of the Friars in Galician language and is also the name of a place on the Arousa estuary near the mouth of the Umia river. History has it that pilgrims used to disembark at Mar de Frades on their route to the Camino de Santiago.
The winery's modern design resembles a sailboat. It is an innovative winery, whose iconic blue bottle symbolizes the modernity of Atlantic wines.
WINEMAKING: The finest Albariño grapes were selected in the cellar. After this, the fruit goes through selection tables and only the whole, healthy and turgid grapes (12% of the total harvest is discarded) pass to the maceration process, wherewith the help of CO2, the most delicate aromatics are derived from the grapes. The juice is fermented naturally with its own yeast in a slow and delicate, controlled environment to capture the most Atlantic and refined, mineral aromas.
TASTING NOTES: Pale lemon colour and lime green reflections. Aromas of orange peel and lychee that are interspersed with white flowers and mineral notes; Balsamic nuances end up marking its freshness and salinity. On the palate, it is powerful, splendid, where volume and harmony are achieved with the balance between the freshness of the fruit and the sea breeze. Elegant and delicate finish
