PRODUCER: Claudio Fenocchio succeeded his father Giacomo at the helm of the family business in 1989, the debate between modernist and traditionalists in Barolo was at its most acute. He decided to opt for a third approach, something we can call radical traditionalism. His wines were celebrated for being impressively approachable in youth while getting even better with age. Claudio represents the 5th generation of the Fenocchio family crafting elegant, true Barolos that capture the soul of his vineyards. Far from resting on his laurels though, he continues to push boundaries of quality and innovation while respecting his family legacy.
WINEMAKING: From two separate parcels of 30-year-old vines in Monforte in Pianpolvere. Fermentation and maceration on the skins over ten days. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel and 6 months in Slavonian oak casks prior to bottling
TASTING NOTES: Deep, intense and luxurious, ripe dark fruit. A rich, savoury, intense, fruity medium to full bodied red wine with spice notes on the nose and the palate. Pairs well with well seasoned red meat, strong meaty sauces and hard mature cheeses.
