PRODUCER: E's Vino is the brainchild of Eugenia Luka, a name you might recognise if you're familiar with our shelves. Eugenia is the daughter of Roberto Luka, the founder of Finca Sophenia. Inheriting her love of wine from her father, Eugenia's now stepped out on her own path to make wines she feels truly reflect her region.
The winemaking heft here comes from two of Argentina's most exciting winemakers, Julia Halupzcok and Matias Michelini.
Julia Halupzcok, tipped as one of Tim Atkin's young winemakers to watch, started her journey at Alto-Sur, but really made her name with the Synthesis blends she created for Finca Sophenia. Matias Michelini is another winemaking heavyweight & native of Argentina who brings his immense knowledge and passion to the project. Known for his new-wave approach to wine, focusing on fruit and freshness, his mark is most certainly stamped on this wine.
E's Vino are also committed to sustainability. In August 2019 they achieved the sustainability certification in accordance with the Bodegas de Argentina Sustainability, duly certified by Letis, a company dedicated to the certification and auditing of international standards in quality and sustainability.
WINEMAKING: Ello Malbec is a pure expression of the varietal, fermented in 500 litre Italian clay amphora, then aged in old French oak barrels for 18 months. The use of old oak and amphora impart texture on the wine without impacting the flavour.
TASTING NOTES: The resulting wine is an intense ruby in colour with a nose of violets, thyme and black cherries. The palate has a round mouthfeel, complemented by a fresh acidity and a lingering finish.
