PRODUCER: C. Da Silva (Vinhos) SA is a traditional Port wine House. Founded in 1862, its present name was defined in the first decades of the twentieth century, when Mr. Clemente da Silva received the company through marriage. At that time to develop export markets, his first steps headed toward Brazil and North America, but other markets soon followed and DALVA is now present in Europe and Asia as well.
WINEMAKING: This is the name given to blended fortified wines, made from red grapes that are aged in wooden pipes, exposing them to the "angels share” a gradual process of evaporation and oxidation. The Tawny has an ageing period between three to five years.
TASTING NOTE: A lovely light reddish colour. Aromas of fresh and dried fruits with hints of vanilla. Very balanced on the palate with an agreeable after taste of cherries.
FOOD PAIRING: Ideally consumed on its own or served with caramel, vanilla or cream desserts.
