PRODUCER: Named in honor of Murielle and Jean -Luc’s daughter, this particular cuvée was created in 1992, as the 2nd wine of Chateau Valandraud from specific vineyard plots of the Thunevin estate. From vintage 1997 on, the constant growth of the Thunevin estate in Saint Emilion allowed us to establish a real terroir oriented identity for Virginie de Valandraud.
VINEYARD: Virginie de Valandraud 2017 illustrates the typicality of its prestigious terroir of clay-limestone and silica-gravel soils through a blend dominated by Merlot (80%) with Cabernet Franc (20%) and aged for 20 months in new oak
TASTING NOTES: Bright ruby red colour with an opulent density. The nose is filled with impeccable oak, vanilla & luscious bouquet of ripe plum. A full bodied wine with high acidity & powerful tannins. Dark fruit characteristics especially black cherry, black currant, plum, dried prunes & fig.
