Grey Glacier Pinot Noir
PRODUCER: Ventisquero began making wine in Chile in 2000. Today, the winery is led by a young, creative team of entrepreneurs who guide us to a single purpose: creating distinctive, high quality wines. Under the guidance of our head winemaker Felipe Tosso, the winery was built in the Coastal Maipo Valley, where grapes for our first wines were grown. Three years later, we ventured into the Casablanca Valley and the prestigious Apalta Valley, the source today for Viña Ventisquero’s premium wines. With estate-owned vineyards in Chile’s top wine producing areas Coastal Maipo, Casablanca, Leyda and Colchagua and extensive research to uncover the secrets of our country’s unique terroir, Viña Ventisquero seeks to produce wines of the highest quality and consistency.
WINEMAKING: The vineyard in the Leyda Valley is located 5 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean and thus has cool temperatures so the ripening period is long resulting in fresh, aromatic wines with delicious acidity.
Prior to fermentation, the grapes underwent a cold maceration to extract their colour and aromas and they were then fermented in open stainless steel tanks before aging in French oak barrels for a period of 12 months. 15% of the barrels were new, 30% second use and 55% third use.
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of blueberries, plums and raspberries and the palate has juicy black fruit flavours and balanced acidity, together with soft, well-rounded tannins and soft French oaky notes.
