PRODUCER: The Goose wine range is truly unique as it is handcrafted in high altitude vineyards on the northern slopes of the Outeniqua Mountains, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. In 1999 the first 6 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon was planted followed by 6 hectares of Shiraz in 2000. Following the success of the first two cultivars planted, the year 2002 saw an additional 6 hectares added to the expanding vineyard, this planting was the popular Sauvignon Blanc.
WINE MAKING: The single-vineyard, site-specific Goose range of Fine Wines are truly unique. It is hand-crafted in high altitude vineyards on the northern slopes of the Outeniqua Mountains, in the heart of the famous Garden Route of South Africa. These unique world-class wines are vineyard specific. The Upper-Langkloof wine ward boasts low annual temperatures of around 17 degrees Celsius, creating elegant styled wines with a classic finish. These "cool-climate" wines are exceptional examples of the grape varietals. The very cool and fresh "terroir" allows for late season ripening with the Cabernet Sauvignon harvested as late as May - the latest in South Africa!
TASTING NOTE: This is a velvet strucutured wine with subtle tannins for its youth. A very soft wine on the palate. Full-bodied wine with huge complexity showing black cherries on the nose. Herbaceous character and white pepper support. This wine has been made to last 10-15 years.
