Domaine Lamy Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot 2018
PRODUCER: In 1973, René and Thérèse LAMY-PILLOT, both from families of winemakers, built in the hamlet of Morgeot in Chassagne-Montrachet. They worked together exploiting a few plots, vinifying and selling their harvest themselves. Over the years, by hard work and new ideas, the Domain strengthened. It now operates 15 hectares in the communes of Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint Aubin, Santenay, Meursault, and Beaune. Each vinification is an interpretation of a vintage and a terroir. All our wines are vinified in the same spirit, to confirm the difference between all our terroirs. Our adaptation is based on a vintage and not a terroir, which highlights the natural differences that exist depending on whether a vine is planted at this or that place.
WINEMAKING: 12 to 18 months in barrels, with a maximum of 25% new oak.
TASTING NOTE: The Morgeot are wines whose approach may seem a little hard. The first five years often offer a slightly closed wine. Nevertheless, its guard is to its advantage, highlighting its power! Full bodied Chassagne, very elegant, acids still kicking through, peach, gooseberries, oak not yet molten. Can drink now with pleasure but would recommend keeping a little longer if you have the patience!
