PRODUCERS: The Andert brothers Erich and Michael switched to biodynamics over ten years ago when Michael Andert saw how his children reacted strongly to the pesticides they used in the field. Since then, they have not looked back, the fields have become significantly healthier and the wines have moved step by step into a completely different league.
Today, the strongest that is sprayed in the four and a half hectare fields is tea made on the silicon-rich horseradish.
WINEMAKING: All wines are hand harvested, sometimes destemmed, open vat fermentation, always native yeast, no temperature control, little to no racking, and everything is aged in oak barrels. Wines are bottled without filtration and total SO2 is about 15-20ppm. No other additions are made. Inside their traditional underground stone cellar, there is no electricity. The wines are free to evolve and develop without interference.
TASTING NOTES: For people who are looking for a more cerebral experience, this orange wine will scratch any and all itches. This wine is vibrant and alive in its complexity, and may leave you wondering if you have a new go-to bottle to flaunt to your friends and family. A blend of Pinot Gris, Neuburger, Weissburgunder, and Chardonnay with a four to five day maceration using Hungarian oak.
